#SuccessStories - Which Roles First: How Sia Ran a Regional AI Exposure Analysis for CS
1. Context
Life sciences companies want to know where generative AI can meaningfully support day-to-day work in commercial and medical affairs roles. The answer depends on each role's actual tasks, so it has to start from the organization's own job descriptions.
CSL, a global biopharmaceutical leader, wanted an AI exposure analysis of its commercial and medical affairs roles in Iberia.
2. Client Challenge
CSL needed to:
- Identify where generative AI could meaningfully support day-to-day work across 25 commercial and medical affairs roles.
- Turn the analysis into a prioritized, role-specific roadmap for AI adoption, ready for immediate action.
3. What Sia Did ?
Sia conducted an AI OrgReview analysis:
- Scope: 25 role profiles covering more than 90 individuals and around 450 distinct tasks.
- Synthesis: findings synthesized into role archetypes and a prioritized use-case portfolio, scored on value and deployment feasibility.
- Process impact: current-state workflows mapped to AI-augmented future states for priority use cases, role by role.
- Requirements: the practical requirements in tooling, data access and governance to move from analysis to pilot.
4. Results & Outlook
The analysis delivered:
- 80% of tasks across the assessed roles identified as AI-assistable, concentrated in several high-leverage roles.
- 3 of 12 use cases prioritized for near-term deployment, validated against feasibility and organizational readiness.
- 3 role archetypes, showing where AI-enabled capacity could be redirected toward client-facing and relationship-led work.
The conversation shifted from 'should we invest in AI' to 'which roles do we transform first', with data to back every decision.
By grounding AI decisions in each organization's own roles and tasks, Sia helps leaders invest where AI creates the most value.
