Cosmetic Ingredient Screener, by RegAI

Beauty brands launch more products, in more markets, on shorter cycles than their regulatory teams were sized for. Before launch, every formula has to be checked against each target market's rules: authorized, restricted and prohibited substances, concentration limits and declaration requirements. Most of this work is still manual: ingredient spreadsheets checked by hand against regulation PDFs, market by market.

RegAI is Sia's regulatory AI engine. Banks and tech companies already use it to automate their compliance processes. The Cosmetic Ingredient Screener is the RegAI version built for ingredient screening. It reads your formulas, applies the right regulation to each product, and shows which ingredients comply and which do not, with the reason for each.

  • Product scoping. Identifies which regulation applies to each product. A sunscreen falls under the US OTC sunscreen monograph and a lipstick does not, so reviewers only check what applies.
  • Ingredient screening. Checks every ingredient against the applicable lists: authorized, restricted and prohibited substances, maximum concentrations, and ingredients that must be declared as active ingredients.
  • Multi-market coverage. Each market's regulations, cosmetic and chemical, are loaded as source documents. New rules, updates or internal standards are added without rebuilding the tool.
  • Auditability. Every finding links back to the regulation article it comes from, so reviewers can drill into sensitive points and see how the agent reached its result.
  • Fits your stack. Ingests any data, structured or not (formula databases, PLM exports, supplier sheets, PDFs). Runs as a standalone tool or as an AI module inside your existing systems.
  • Extends beyond ingredients. Because it runs on RegAI, the same engine can be set up for other compliance checks, such as labels, claims and packaging, when your teams need them.

The Screener answers the question regulatory teams ask before every launch: can this formula be sold in this market, and can we prove it? Each finding comes with its source and is ready for sign-off.
